Asad Shafqat Co-Head Investment Banking

Asad Shafqat is one of the founder shareholders of Foundation Securities and played a key role in conceiving and executing the partnership between Fauji Foundation and a group of professionals to form Foundation Securities. Asad brings with him nearly eight years of investment banking and private equity experience wherein he has led and have been part of large transactions.

Prior to his involvement in Foundation Securities, Asad worked with Actis Capital (formerly CDC Capital Partners) and KASB Securities (Pvt.) Limited. At Actis Capital, Asad managed Actis' existing portfolio in Pakistan, comprising a total of 15 equity & debt investments. He was responsible for identifying, developing and working on potential private equity and distressed assets opportunities for Actis Assets in Pakistan.

At KASB, Asad worked as a team member on the successful IPO and Offer for Sale of GoP's 5% shareholding in Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd. In addition, Asad was also involved on large balance sheet restructurings, notably Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Ltd and Fauji Cement Limited and both sell and buy side privatizations including OGDCL, PPL, and Chevron's acquisition of SSGC LPG business, Pak Arab Fertilizer and Allied Bank of Pakistan.

During 2004 – 06, Asad was also a key member of the team recommending new/additional investments and divestments of existing portfolio of the Fauji Foundation with a view to tailor returns on investment to match and, if possible, outstrip the Foundation’s expenditure.

He is currently leading all the capital market transactions in Foundation Securities, and is responsible for furthering the investment banking and also equities business in the company.
